When can I buy lottery tickets in Texas?

General rules. As with most US lotteries, players must be at least 18 years of age. Winning tickets must be claimed within 180 days or the prize is forfeited. For scratch tickets, the time limit begins when a game is closed by the Commission; for drawings the time limit begins the date of the drawing.
